On Intelligence- 創智慧譯評

經過漫長的等待， 終於拿到了英文版。 本週只看了序言跟第一章 ，找到了以下的一些問題 。

<原文> P3 - The answer is I tried to, several times, but I refused to study the problem of intelligence as others have before me.
< 譯文>答案是我已經試過好幾次了 ，但是我沒法像其他人那樣研究智慧。
<譯評> 作者用了 "refuse" 這個字， 表示不願隨波逐流，跟之前的研究者採用同樣的方式去探索智慧。 所以我覺得應該把這種心境表現出來， 原文翻譯成"沒法" 感覺像是沒有能力。
<建議翻譯> 答案是我曾經試過了很多次， 但是我不願意像以前的研究者那樣去專研有關智慧的問題。


<原文> P4- The theoryI present is not a complete new one
<譯文>P28-在這裡我所呈現的並不是一個全新的理論。
<譯評> Present 應解釋為" 提出"
<建議翻譯> 我在此提出的並不是一個全新的理論。


<原文> P6- The key to understnading the neocortex is understtanding these common principles and, in particular, its eierarchical structure.
< 譯文> P28-要了解大腦的關鍵， 就是了解這些基本通則， 尤其是他的階層性結構。
<譯評> Neocortex 是新皮質， 不是大腦。
<建議翻譯>要了解新皮質的關鍵，就在於這些共通的原則， 特別是階層性的結構。


<譯文> P37-他們仗的是以成敗論英雄的方式
<原文> P12-They took an ends-justify-the-means approach.
<譯評> ends-justify-the-means approach 本是結果論， 在這裡翻成' 成敗論英雄' ，我覺得是不錯的翻譯。
